What Is An Ultrasonic Cleaning?
With ultrasonic instruments, cleanings remove dental tartar and can provide a more comfortable experience than traditional scaling. Ultrasonic cleanings are performed with ultrasonic scalers that vibrate and emit ultrasonic waves that gently force tartar (calculus, or hardened plaque) from teeth. The scaler uses a small stream of water that shoots out the tip to flush away debris from the area being treated and keeps the instrument cool. The vibrating tip causes some of the water to break into millions of tiny bubbles. This breaks apart plaque and tartar and helps dislodge the tartar deposits that contain harmful bacteria.
With ultrasonic technology, we’ll reduce your potential for developing gum disease or help you recover from mild periodontal disease. It’s fast, safe, and effective.
