Restoring Integrity and Strength to Compromised Teeth
Your teeth are coated with the most durable substance in the human body, enamel. However, extreme conditions, like crushing pressure, temperature fluctuations, and hundreds of bacteria in your mouth can compromise a tooth’s integrity. Deep dental decay (caries) or a tooth fracture (crack) may necessitate a dental filling or crown.
Dr. Galligan works with excellent dental laboratories where technicians, using our highly accurate digital impressions, create high quality, biocompatible materials to custom fabricate dental crowns, bridges, and implants. These restorations fit over the portion of a tooth that extends above the gum line. They protect the tooth, restore structure, and renew strength.
For front teeth, which don’t have to endure significant pressure, Dr. Galligan uses highly esthetic porcelain crowns. Our lab will tint the material to match your surrounding teeth, so once in place, the crown will look natural in your smile. Teeth further back in the mouth require a stronger material called zirconia. Zirconia is a modern, tooth colored, solid material that is highly durable and esthetic. At your assessment, rest assured that Dr. Galligan will explain which type of restoration will fulfill your needs and with your best interest of durability and esthetics at the forefront of planning treatment.
